In an ensuing battle with Shaw, Lensherr takes the helmet for himself, encouraging Xavier to immobilize Shaw. Despite Xavier's objections, Lensherr eliminates Shaw by making the focus camp coin through his brain. Fearing the mutants, the fleets fire their missiles at them. In a fight, Xavier retains Lensherr from hurting the fleets with the missiles, but when MacTaggert shoots at Lensherr, a deflected bullet hits Xavier within the spinal column. Lensherr, remorseful, leaves with Mystique, Angel, Riptide and Azazel. A wheelchair-bound Xavier and the mutants come back to the mansion, at which he plans to start a school. MacTaggert claims to never reveal his address and so they kiss; on the Central intelligence agency shortly after, she said she has no clear reminiscence of current events.
