'Party Down' Movie Script Is 'Almost Done,' Lizzy Caplan Says

Like the cast members of "Arrested Development," anyone and everyone that's ever been associated with the short-lived cult comedy series "Party Down" inevitably find themselves fielding the same question: when's the movie coming out? Of course, a "Party Down" movie isn't guaranteed, but cast members Lizzy Caplan and Megan Mullally both told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival that progress has been made on bringing the canceled series to the big screen. "I think they're almost done with the script," said Caplan. "And I have no doubt that it'll be fairly close to flawless. We'll just move forward very quickly and hopefully be able to shoot something this year." Mullally was a bit more cautious in her assessment of the "Party Down" film, largely due to recent comments she made that got her in hot water. "I got in trouble for saying it was definitely happening," she said. "So now I'm supposed to say it's looking good." As for what the movie might center on, Mullally heard one particular idea that should raise fans' interest. "Originally I know that Lizzy wanted one of the events that we catered to be Ken Marino's character's funeral," she laughed. "I don't know if that's really going to happen or not, but sorry Ron Donald. It's been real!" Mullally's husband and "Parks & Rec" star Nick Offerman has apparently heard a thing or two about the "Party Down" movie as well. "I do know there's going to be a lot of f---ing in the movie," he deadpanned. "It's going to be an X-rated movie with live-action, very hardcore sex scenes," Mullally agreed. Around the Set: Shameless Appears The Warmth in Season 2

Shameless You hear the bickering the 2nd one enters the soundstage. "Sing it already," he states. "Oh, quiet," she states. "No, you." "No, you!" Whether it were not for William H. Macy's impish grin and also the huge laugh Emmy Rossum launches, you'd think the stars might really arrived at blows. But that is the way they roll around the group of Shameless, Showtime's energetic dramedy about existence within the downtrodden Gallagher household. The cast functions such as the figures they experience TV. With mother from the picture and papa Frank (Macy) too sauced to keep an eye on six kids, it's every misfit for him- or herself. As Rossum, who plays earliest daughter Fiona, states, "Think about the weakest, most off-kilter family you realize, multiply the intensity by 10 and stick these questions claustrophobic house in Chicago. This is the Gallaghers." Arrive the warmth and also you get Season 2, which premieres Sunday. Following a discontented winter, the Gallaghers are battling to remain awesome within the broil of the Chicago summer time. Still, it may as well be freezing out on set today in La. The whole cast is available to create a Christmas music video/promo that's a lot more like any excuses for the stars to fake-fight with each other. At some point in the center of the song (a parody of each and every serious Yuletide carol), Macy's mobile phone begins chirping. "Are you currently kidding me?" Rossum yells. Macy just glares at her. After he states, "As stars, we take our responsibility very seriously in the future off as completely family-crazy." To bond, the cast resided like real Gallaghers in the beginning, with small-golf excursions and forced rehearsals within the cramped living-room set. "Everyone needed to make their very own lunch from the set refrigerator and do their very own dishes," states John Wells, the ex-ER professional producer who modified Shameless from the British series of the identical title with original creator Paul Abbott. "It did not take lengthy for true disorder to occur." It's working. The Shameless finale last spring was the greatest-ranked season ender for any new Showtime series in ten years (new drama Homeland lately beat Shameless' finale amounts). Overall last season, this program averaged a lot more than 3.7 million audiences across various platforms (including When Needed and replays), right available online for with Showtime's Dexter, Weeds and today Homeland. And Joan Cusack gained an Emmy nomination on her role as kooky shut-in (and Frank's love interest) Sheila Jackson, whose husband Eddie's suicide last season dangles within the new episodes. "Season 1 established Frank like a guy who'll do anything whatsoever to remain drunk without having to try to support his family, even when which means siphoning off Sheila or sleeping together with her daughter," states Wells. However when Eddie's body appears this year in Lake Michigan having a cinder block associated with his ankle, Frank, as Cusack states, "will have some 'splaining to complete.Inch Another Gallaghers aren't much best. Fiona is within major denial about how exactly much she still loves Steve (Justin Chatwin), her cad-tastic boyfriend who went off and away to Panama And Nicaragua , to avert being charged with vehicle thievery. Now, "Fiona is cocktail waitressing but stays considerable time considering calling Steve and dating men she should not," states Rossum. Adds Wells, "We'll see Steve again, but it is quite different while he returns to town married to some Brazilian girl." Fiona's brother Lip (Jeremy Allen Whitened)and Sheila's daughter Karen (Laura Slade Wiggins)continue to be connecting up, despite the fact that Karen includes a boyfriend she met in Sex Addicts Anonymous. For money, Lip teams with gay brother Ian (Cameron Monaghan) and bartenders-neighbor Kev (Steve Howey) to market stuff from an ice- cream truck. "Just a little frozen treats, just a little pot," states Monaghan, whose character's true ambition is to buy into West Point. Plus there is edgy squirt Carl Gallagher (Ethan Cutkosky), who makes money watching individuals houses and stealing from their store. "Perfect project for a ten-year-old," Wells states. Frank, meanwhile, will get points for basically standing upright. Not too moving away from booze is incorporated in the cards. "Many people, whenever you sober them up, you want they'd a glass or two again, and i believe Frank's among individuals men," Wells states. To remain catatonic, Frank moves in on the butter-faced barfly from local pub The Alibi Room. "The girl waiting for a heart transplant and Frank, God bless him, is waiting for her demise so he is able to relocate on her behalf pension," states Macy. Back on set, the Gallaghers are finally harmoniously. Well, a minimum of the Christmas song sounds good. Until someone - it's difficult to inform who - hits an off note. Macy throws up his hands with exaggerated disgust: "You people can drive a man to consume!Inch Shameless airs Sundays at 9/8c on Showtime. Sign up for TV Guide Magazine now!

Retirees want their entertainment

Call it the geezer booster.Show business may be obsessed with the youth market, but older patrons may be more willing to spend on its wares, according to a new survey of retirees and pre-retirees commissioned by insurance and financial-services firm the Hartford.Based on almost 2,000 telephone interviews of adults 45 and older, the survey determined that only 9% of pre-retirees and 7% of post-retirees would forgo entertainment (defined as including movies, concerts and theater) if they had to give up one thing to make ends meet in retirement. For people already in retirement, that was the lowest percentage scored by any category. For pre-retirees, giving up movies, concerts and theater tied with eliminating dining out or recreation (such as playing golf or tennis) as the last category to be willingly abandoned.Post-retirees said they would be most likely to give up vacations and travel (19%) and shopping to buy nice things for themselves (17%). Pre-retirees are most willing to move to a more modest home (21%) and trade down to a less expensive car (18%). Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

Mirren’s episode “Yes/No” will air on January 17 and feature the Academy Award winner as the “inner voice” of one of the cast members — meaning that Mirren will not be seen. The first trailer for Salmon Fishing In The Yemen has landed online.Lasse Hallström's romantic comedy drama stars Ewan McGregor as a scientist tasked with introducing salmon to the waters of Yemen for an ambitious Middle-Eastern Sheik. His tasks not as bad as it sounds though, thanks to the fact that the Sheik's legal representative is played by the ever-charming Emily Blunt. The political angle is seemingly just a backdrop for what look like fairly traditional romcom antics, but McGregor and Blunt have a pleasing chemistry and Kristin Scott Thomas is on hand to provide sturdy support.Check out the trailer below:Salmon Fishing In The Yemen opens on 9 March 2012.
